HPC Summer School and Internships 2019


For students and younger postdocs, there are various opportunities to expand your HPC knowledge during the summer months 2019 - all being expense-paid programs.



ISC High Performance 2019: Call for Student Volunteers -- 13-21 June 2019 at ISC 2019 in Frankfurt, Germany

If you are a student pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in computer science, or any STEM-related fields, and high performance computing (HPC) is on your radar, volunteering at ISC 2019 can help steer your future career in the right direction.

We are looking for enthusiastic and reliable young people to help us run the conference. In return we offer you the opportunity to attend the tutorials, conference sessions, workshops and the ISC STEM Day & Gala for free. We strongly encourage you to use the event to build your professional network. Finally, who knows, your future employer might also be attending the event!

We provide housing (in shared double rooms) for all out-of-town students.

ISC High Performance: Travel Grant Program 2019 -- 16-20 June 2019 at ISC 2019 in Frankfurt, Germany

The ISC High Performance Travel Grant Program is intended to enable one university student and one young researcher who lack funding opportunities to attend the ISC High Performance conference in June 2019.

Successful candidates are required to attend the full conference program, from Sunday 16 June through Thursday 20 June. They will be assigned a mentor, who will help them get the most out of the conference by suggesting relevant program sessions and introducing them to experts in various research fields.

PRACE Summer of HPC 2019 -- 1 July - 30 August 2019 in Europe (various locations)

Late-stage undergraduate and Master’s students are invited to apply for the PRACE Summer of HPC 2019 programme, to be held in July & August 2019.

Consisting of a training week and two months on placement at top HPC centres around Europe, the programme offers participants the opportunity to learn and share more about PRACE and HPC, and includes accommodation, a stipend and travel to their HPC centre.

International Summer School 2019 on HPC Challenges in Computational Sciences -- 7-12 July 2019 in Kobe, Japan

Graduate students and postdoctoral scholars from institutions in Canada, Europe, Japan and the United States are invited to apply for the tenth International Summer School on HPC Challenges in Computational Sciences, to be held from 7 -12 July 2019, at the campus of the RIKEN Center for Computational Science (R-CCS) in Kobe, Japan. The summer school is organized by the Extreme Science and Engineering Discovery Environment (XSEDE), the Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe (PRACE), the R-CCS, and the SciNet HPC Consortium.

Leading computational scientists and HPC technologists will offer instructions on a variety of topics as well as dedicated mentoring to benefit scholars who use advanced computing in their research.

It is an expense-paid program, that means that school fees, meals, and housing will be covered for all accepted applicants, as well as intercontinental flight costs.

HPC-Europa3 Transnational Access programme: Seventh call for application is open!

This project is based on a program of visit, in the form of traditional transnational access, with researchers visiting HPC centres and/or scientific hosts who will mentor them scientifically and technically for the best exploitation of the HPC resources in their research. The visitors will be funded for travel, accommodation and subsistence, and provided with an amount of computing time suitable for the approved project.
